Terms of use

These Terms of Use explain what Passlane does, what it does not do, and the rules for using this website.

Use of this site

Passlane is an independent private company. We are a free matching and referral service. We help you understand the passport or visa process in plain language and, if you want, connect you with an independent private passport or visa expediting service. We are not the U.S. Department of State, not the National Passport Information Center, not USCIS, not an embassy or consulate, and not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by any government agency.

This site is for general information and referral purposes only. By using this site, you agree to use it lawfully and only for your own personal or household travel-related needs. You agree not to misuse the site, interfere with its operation, submit false information, impersonate another person, or use the site to spam, scrape, copy, or exploit content without permission.

You can always apply directly with the government yourself at no service charge. For example, many adults who qualify can renew by mail using Form DS-82. First-time applicants generally apply in person using Form DS-11 at a passport acceptance facility. Routine passport service usually takes about 4 to 6 weeks. Expedited service usually takes about 2 to 3 weeks for an extra official government fee. Urgent or life-or-death appointments may be available in limited cases, usually for travel within about 14 days. A passport card is generally valid for land and sea travel, but not for international air travel.

If you send us a request form, you agree to provide accurate contact and request details so we can respond or try to match you with a private service. Do not submit sensitive personal data on this site, including:
- Social Security numbers
- passport numbers
- scanned passports or identity documents
- full payment card details

Please also review our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer.

No legal advice, no government processing

The information on this site is educational and general. It is not legal advice, immigration advice, or individualized case advice. Passlane does not issue passports or visas, does not complete or file government applications for you, and does not make decisions on any application. Only the government can decide whether to issue a passport or visa, schedule certain official appointments, or approve or deny an application.

If you choose to use a private expediter after being matched through Passlane, that private company may offer courier or hand-carry assistance where allowed. That does not change the official government rules. Government application fees and passport or visa fees are separate from, and not included in, any private expediter's service fee. You are responsible for reviewing all fees carefully and confirming current official government amounts on the official government website.

If you have a legal or immigration question, such as status, admissibility, removal, citizenship, or a visa refusal issue, you should speak with a licensed immigration attorney or accredited representative. Passlane cannot tell you what legal strategy to use, whether you qualify for an immigration benefit, or how a government officer will decide your case.

If anything on this site seems unclear, please contact us.

No guarantees; limits and updates

We try to keep information clear and useful, but this site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Passport and visa rules, office procedures, appointment availability, mailing times, and government processing times can change. Any time estimate on this site is only a typical estimate, not a promise. We do not guarantee approval, issuance, appointment availability, a specific processing speed, or any travel outcome.

By using this site, you understand that any match or referral is offered for convenience only. Passlane does not control the work, pricing, availability, or results of any independent third-party service provider. You are responsible for reviewing that provider's own terms, privacy practices, and fees before you decide to work with them.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Passlane disclaims warranties and is not liable for losses arising from your use of this site, reliance on general information, service interruptions, third-party actions, missed travel, mailing delays, or government decisions. If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining parts will still apply. We may update these terms from time to time by posting a revised version on this page.

In plain words

Passlane is a free private referral service, not the government. We explain the process in simple English and may connect you with an independent expediter, but you can always apply directly with the government yourself for no service charge. We do not give legal advice, do not process applications, and cannot promise approval or exact timing.

Common questions

Is Passlane a government office that can approve my passport or visa faster?
No. Passlane is an independent private company, not a government office. We do not approve passports or visas, and we cannot guarantee faster processing. We provide general information and may connect you with an independent private expediter. Only the government decides the result and timing.
Do I have to pay Passlane or use a private expediter?
No. Passlane is free to use as a matching service. You can always apply directly with the government yourself at no service charge. If you choose to hire a private expediter, that company's service fee is separate from the official government fee, which is still required.
What information is safe to send through the website form?
Use the form only for basic contact and request details, such as your name, email, phone number, travel timing, and the kind of help you need. Do not send your Social Security number, passport number, scanned documents, or other highly sensitive records through the site form.
